Commtech Final Exam
Well it looks like this is the last blog post I'm going to have to do. This post is actually my final exam for Communications Technology, TGJ 4M1. This is actually going to be pretty fun because I want to be a graphic designer when I grow up so I think I'll enjoy researching these two career fields.
The first career I am going to research is a graphic designer. To become a graphic designer you need to have a lot of arts and courses related to art in high school. It isn't a hard program to get into but if you want to be a graphic designer you must know how to draw extremely well. Also you must know how to use programs such as photoshop elements, corel draw, or photo paint. Working conditions for a graphic designer are actually pretty good. Most designers just work straight from a home computer. If you get a job designing for a large company than you may have a 9-5job at the office. There is also deadlines to get the designs done so you can't slack around projects. Graphic designers can make anywhere from $20,000 - $125,000 a year depening on how well your known and who you work for. It also depends on how well your work is, if it's a well done piece of work, companies will pay you more for it. A good college for graphic designers would be The Art Institute Of California, located in Sacremento, CA. The whole school is based on arts and graphic deisgns so this would be the ideal college for any newcoming graphic designers or artists.
The second careeer field I am going to research is a photographer. Photographers combine artistic talent and technical skills to create professional photographs. In order to be a successful photographer you must know how to arrage your photos so that the subject you are taking a picture of stands out clearly in the photo. There are many different types of photographers. Some photographers take pictures at weddings and some sit in a labratory all day and take pictures of notes and documents. Photographers don't really have any courses that they need in high school to get into college but they need to have a ton of experience with a camera and they need to know what they're doing with it. Apprenticeships may be available through a small college or even sometimes a camera store. In order you get one an apprenticeship you have to be on top of the crowd though, whcih isn't easy. Getting a job might also be difficult. The best way to get someone to hire you is putting together a portfolio. This portfolio will include about 10 of the best photos you have taken, all different styles as well. Employers don't want to see the same shot 10 times. A photogrpahers average salary is only $26,080 a year. This is similar to the graphic designers pay though, in a sense that if you work for a large company the slary is obviously going to increase a large amount. There are also a few photogrpahers out there that make millions. These are the guys that are well known throughout the world. Their jobs usually include photographing models or celebrities professionally.

Commtech Post May 22
This week in commtech we finished our flash animations and started our Grade 8 video. I started my storyboard and got down my idea of what I want to have in my video. the video has to be about the exciting things that happen at Korah and it also has to show how hectic it is. On Monday I will go into the halls, the cafeteria, and the gymnasium to show the hecticness of the school. On tuesday I will go out and fim the outdoor ed class to show the fun things to do. I will also include clips of things such as the dunk tank, tug a rope etc. I will also be taking pictures from Halloween, Christmas, and any other dances or proms that are theme orientated. After the video it is done I'm confident it will be a good one.

Last week in commtech we started to work on our flash videos. We had to do the practices out of the book and then we had to make our own video showing our skills in flash. I made a video of a guy kicking a soccer ball into the distance and hitting it off the post and then going in the net. I don't know how good it is but it was the first video I've made in over a year and I think it turned out alright. We also did our flash test and we had to open a video of Dom doing a numa numa dance and we had to add text to it and make it move and we had to show shape and motion tweening in our video as well. Below are the two videos. Left is soccer and right is numa numa

Two weeks ago in commtech we finished our independent projects. I didn't get to finish my third design because you told me I would have failed anyways. So instead I helped Tyler finish the grad slideshow. We had to go back and add people and adjust a handful of names on it. we also had to edit some fades that wern't placed properly and adjust the text on some names as well that were not times right.

This week in commtech I worked on my t shirt designs. I finished my second design and I plan to work on my third and final design next week. my second design is a bunch of lines and circles blended togtether with the letters ZERO three times moving downwards on the t shirt. I chose Zero because it is simple and doesn't mean anything, and it also looks cool. I also learned how to blend words in with pictures a lot better than before. I helped Tyler do the finishing touches to the graduation slide show because there were some mistakes that we didn't see before.

ARCHITECTURE PHOTOS POST
This week in commtech I worked on my t shirt designs more. I also helped Tyler do the finishing touches on the graduation slideshow. Yesterday I went out and took architecture pictures of Korah. I learned how to angle my photos a bit better and I also learned how to capture light in my photos a bit better as well. there wasn't much sun out but I think they turned out alright anyways.

This week in commtech I worked on my design logo and screen printing. I didn't know at first if the design was too plain or not so I tried adding words and circles abnd different shapes to it to make it louder but it didn't look good. I left it just saying KORAH so that if someone wants it for football, or soccer or any sport I can just add the word to the bottom. I have a completed version black and white, and I also have one one with what it would look like if you put it on a yellow t-shirt. I also learned how to put the emulsion on the screens yesterday. Next week I plan to put the design on the screen and see how it turns out on a t shirt.

Design Brief and Such
This week in Commtech I worked on my graphic design logo and screen printing. I washed the ink off 2 screens, and then I scrubed the design off both of them. Next week I plan to put my own design on one of the screens. My design is a korah logo that was already made but It's made for any peice of clothing that isn't black. I also put KORAH at the top 3 times to create a 3D effect so that it doesn't look plain. I am also going to work on my design brief right now for my screen printing project.

This week in commtech me and Tyler finished our AIDS awareness video. It starts off with a stop motion animation and then it changes to Tiff running up a hill and then dieing. Her dieing represents what AIDS can do to human beings. It kills. It then goes to 4 facts about AIDS and precautions that you can take to prevent getting AIDS. Then the outro starts and all it says is have a nice day, and made by Tyler Tornabuono and Dillan Rivet. We also worked on the grad slide show a bit.

This week in commtech me and Tyler worked on our AIDS video for student awareness. We made our intro using stop motion animation. we are going to record all of our footage next Monday and Tuesday and hopefully have the video completely finished by the Thursday of next week. Me and tyler also went and took pictures of natural lighting yesterday. we got to use the giant silver reflector and it worked out pretty good. We went up to the area in front of the cafeteria and we also went into the Northern Light Studio. we had Tiffany Bagnall come with us because she was on spare so she did some modelling for us as well.
